The Royal Marines Museum is housed in an imposing Victorian building with landscaped gardens and views over the Solent. There are a number of grand rooms in the building including a former Officers Mess with an ornate gold leaf ceiling, Italian marble fireplaces and chandeliers. There is a Minsterels Gallery and a medal room with a collection of some 7000 medals. The building also has a grand Victorian staircase.
