RAF Northolt is located within the M25 and is an active military airfield that is used 24/7 alongside civilian aircraft via Universal Aviation. The airfield consists of a small amount of brick 1930’s buildings as well as a vast majority of modern structures. The Officers’ Mess is Grade 2 listed and extremely historic and looks out over the airfield. It was the focus of pilot operations during WW II. There is also a listed 1930’s hangar which can only be used as a backdrop as the inside is in constant use and cannot be emptied. The station has a restored Sector Ops Building which was used during WW II and is often used for re-enactments. It features original squadron tote boards, a huge original planning table and a control deck set up over the planning table. Finally, there is also a large parade square which can be used for up to 2 days at a time with prior permission and also overlooks the airfield.
